The Dubai Sphere will stand at 110 meters tall and feature an intimate entertainment space with seating for 300 guests.

This new sphere will be located within “The Island,” a massive project inspired by Las Vegas, and it will be positioned at the heart of three MGM resorts: MGM, Bellagio, and Aria.

Although the Dubai Sphere will be smaller than the original in Las Vegas, MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle assured that it will be “equally as compelling.” Hornbuckle also clarified to Skift that this project is not connected to Sphere Entertainment, the company behind the Las Vegas Sphere.

The entertainment venue will reportedly feature a timeline highlighting the history of Dubai, showcasing the city’s transformation from desert to the thriving metropolis it is today.

In response to questions about whether “The Island” or the Dubai Sphere will include casinos, a signature of Las Vegas, Hornbuckle explained that while they hope gaming will eventually be allowed in the area, for now, they have only applied for a casino license for their projects in Abu Dhabi.

There is no confirmed opening date for either the Las Vegas-inspired island or the Dubai Sphere, but both are expected to launch simultaneously.
