Nakheel, a key player in Dubai Holding’s real estate division, Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded an AED 810 million contract to “Jan De Nul Dredging LTD” for the marine works at Palm Jebel Ali.
As part of the renowned Jan De Nul Group, this company will be in charge of dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, directly contributing to the construction of villas across all fronds.
With mobilisation activities already in progress, Jan De Nul Dredging is expected to complete the entire scope of marine works at Palm Jebel Ali within just over two years. Notably, the first eight fronds of the project are anticipated to be site-ready by the first quarter of 2025, paving the way for villa infrastructure and civil works to commence.
In addition to this, following Nakheel’s recent awarding of two major infrastructure contracts, work has begun on constructing a new public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road, along with enhancements to the roadways and lighting from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali.
Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali is set to offer a vast array of luxury lifestyle amenities for residents, families, and visitors. This project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and signifies the start of a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area, underscoring the emirate’s expansion.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, stated, “Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging demonstrates our firm commitment to excellence and innovation. As Nakheel intensifies its development activities under Dubai Holding, Jan De Nul Dredging’s expertise in marine, civil construction, and environmental projects is critical as we drive progress on this transformative development.”
Aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Palm Jebel Ali is poised to become a global destination, offering residents a luxurious waterfront lifestyle with extensive beachfronts and pristine waters, all while setting new standards in quality living and sustainability.
Last year, Palm Jebel Ali launched over 700 units of its Phase 1 frond villas, featuring eight distinctive designs that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living in a tranquil coastal environment. The ongoing infrastructure and marine works are crucial to delivering these homes, scheduled for handover in late 2026, and advancing Palm Jebel Ali’s vision as a premier residential and leisure destination. Ultimately, the island will span 13.4 kilometres, encompassing 16 fronds and 91 kilometres of beachfront, in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan’s goal of enhancing public beach access.
Nakheel’s projects are a significant part of Dubai’s iconic master communities and residential developments, key to achieving the city’s vision.
